The Neil Robertson stretcher, or NRS, is a fascinating piece of stretcher that is light in weight but has a heavy-duty feature, that can be camped and transported easily. Made from semi-rigid canvas, this stretcher is the most convenient to use, as it can be easily folded whenever not in use.
Due to its small and easy-to-carry size and extreme flexibility, it easily moves from one area to another, such as engine rooms and boiler rooms, where space is very limited.
The primary purpose of the Neil Robertson stretcher is to keep a patient in an erect position during transportation to facilitate their recovery each time complications occur during transport. This flexible stretcher has received considerable awareness and has become popular, utilised by many sectors, including the navy, mines, factories, and emergency departments. It is constructed with high-density nylon and bamboo fabric, which ensure strength and durability; even under the high tension containments, it can perform easily.
However, the standout feature of the Neil Robertson stretcher is that it was specially designed for making transfers in very confined spaces, so it is particularly suitable for moving people with fractures or other serious conditions. Truly revolutionary for the design concept, it offers improved stability by hinged and joined structure that reduces the chances of worsening the patients’ injuries in the process of repositioning. While it is preferred in naval circumstances, where a small door or hatch makes manoeuvring difficult, this stretcher has uses in a myriad of situations.
How to use
Used on all types of ships, fieldwork, mine operations, and architecture businesses. Under the norms of the NeiL-Robertson stretcher, the International Marine Medical Guide has been compiled by WHO.
1. The angioplasty stretcher must be deployed with the direction written as “INSIDE” facing upwards.
2. The wounded person stays in a lying position on the stretcher. There will be one fixing band at the upper part of the stretcher, which is used to fix the head or neck.
3. There are three fixing bands in the middle of the stretcher, which will be used for fixing the chest, and the groove there could be used for receiving the upper arm.
4. There are two fixing bands at the lower part of the stretcher for fixing the crura below the hip.
5. The stretcher also has two rings at the lower part, and these are used to hold the feet.
It was possible to get protection to the backbone if only one set of wooden bars was fixed from the top to the bottom of the stretcher.
Note
1. To grasp the rubber rings in black on the back side of the little and uplift after the wounded to be well fixed.
2. If you will have to rescue with a helicopter, fix it to the lifting facilities, then lift it away from vertical access onboard the ship, then drop it to the rescue boat.
